Project Manager

We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager to join our Environment Business Division, working on the Affinity Water Framework. You’ll lead the delivery of clean water treatment projects (both above and below ground) as part of the capital programme. This role involves managing multiple sites across the Affinity Water region, with a local base office in Rickmansworth.

What you will be doing:
  • Take full responsibility for project delivery, including programme, financial performance, health & safety, and environmental compliance.
  • Manage and develop staff at all levels, ensuring leadership and retention of key personnel.
  • Build strong relationships with senior client representatives.
  • Apply a solid understanding of NEC contract conditions and maintain strong commercial awareness.
  • Oversee day‑to‑day management of multiple projects, ensuring KPI and PI targets are achieved.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations (including CDM) and environmental legislation.
  • Review and assess RAMS, Process Impact Assessments, and environmental documentation.
  • Liaise with clients to meet or exceed KPI targets within budget.
  • Set clear objectives for your team and support their development.
  • Assist Delivery and Construction Managers with resource allocation.
  • Take ownership of financial performance, including profit/loss responsibility.
  • Produce project performance reports and participate in monthly reviews with senior management.
  • Ensure compliance with all commercial and financial procedures.
  • Prepare estimates, quotations, and tender vetting.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project programmes with the project planner.
  • Coordinate with design and tendering teams to ensure resources and client requirements are met.
  • Manage procurement of plant, materials, and subcontractors.
  • Ensure resources are available for testing, commissioning, and client training.
  • Attend internal and external progress meetings and site visits.
  • Oversee completion of contract documentation, including “As Built” drawings, commissioning manuals, and O&M manuals.
About You:
  • ONC/HNC/B.Eng or NVQ equivalent in a relevant discipline.
  • Health & Safety qualifications (IOSH or CITB SMSTS desirable).
  • CSCS card holder.
  • Demonstrable experience in the water and/or sewage industries.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Positive, proactive attitude with a focus on project success.
  • Confident decision‑maker with problem‑solving ability.
