1. Meets Illinois Teacher Professional Education License/Endorsement requirements

2. Such other qualifications as the Board or Superintendent may deem appropriate

REPORTS TO:

Principal/Assistant Principal

JOB SUMMARY:

The primary responsibility of the Music teacher is to prepare lesson plans and teach elementary children.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provides music instruction to students from introductory to intermediate lessons. Curriculum and instruction materials along with pedagogical practices must meet the standards of the District's evaluation plan.
  • Implements the District's philosophy, mission, goals, and objectives by instruction and action.
  • Encourages students to set and maintain high standards of academic achievement and behavior.
  • Maintains effective discipline procedures that reflect school and district guidelines.
  • Prepares students for performance in concerts, school and district events.
  • Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior necessary to achieve an appropriate learning atmosphere.
  • Prepare and perform in civic events.
  • Supervises students during fire drills, tornado drills and other safety activities.
  • Maintains appropriate electronic and individual student records and prepares progress reports on students' growth.
  • Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members to assess students' strengths and needs.
  • Creates an effective setting for learning through a functional, organized, safe, and instructional appropriate environment.
  • Maintains professional, technical, and instructional competence through staff development opportunities.
  • Assists in the effective administration of group standardized tests in accordance with the District and state testing programs.
  • Participates in meetings and activities, as required.
  • Adheres to the policies and procedures of the District.
  • Coordinate and attend instrumental rental night.
  • TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
    School term.
