The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world's worst humanitarian crises, helping to restore health, safety, education, economic wellbeing, and power to people devastated by conflict and disaster. Founded in 1933 at the call of Albert Einstein, the IRC is one of the world's largest international humanitarian non-governmental organizations (INGO), at work in more than 40 countries and 29 U.S. cities helping people to survive, reclaim control of their future and strengthen their communities.

BACKGROUND

Founded in 1933, the International Rescue Committee is a leading, non-sectarian, non-profit organization providing emergency relief, protection, rehabilitation assistance, resettlement services, and advocacy for refugees and victims of crisis or violent conflict. The Intensive Case Management (ICM) program currently operates in 29 offices across the IRC’s U.S. network. ICM serves the most vulnerable refugees during their first five years of resettlement, helping them achieve self-sufficiency by identifying their unique needs, the barriers that prevent them from functioning and integrating into the mainstream, and the specific goals that they will reach as a result of enrollment in the ICM program.

The Intensive Case Management (ICM) Intern will work closely with the Intensive Case Management (ICM) caseworker to assist with addressing clients’ needs in their areas of vulnerability and address barriers to health and wellness for refugee and displaced clients with severe physical or mental health conditions, the elderly, single-headed households, primary caregivers, and victims of sexual assault and gender-based violence enrolled in the ICM program.

ICM Interns will be responsible for checking in on the well-being of clients, providing comprehensive support when needed, and building clients' self-sufficiency.
