The City of Richmond’s Department of Justice Services is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the part time position of Social Casework Technician. This position is responsible for overseeing and providing guidance to youth mandated by the courts to participate in community service hours. As assigned, work may include: providing guidance, positive reinforcement, behavior management, transportation, and all documentation of community service tasks to include, but not limited to supervision of youth referred to the community service program, actively engaging community partners, and conducting background check paperwork, collecting and compiling data;
collecting client information and maintaining records; attending meetings and informational programs; and networking with other agencies to obtain information and client resources.
Exercised: This classification typically does not supervise other employees.
Received: This classification typically reports to a first line supervisor or manager.

Please note: This is a 20hr part-time position only!
Duties- Providing constant eyesight supervision with juvenile offenders while on the work site
- Providing transportation for weekly/weekend community service program participants
- Receiving/monitoring all juveniles reporting for community service when scheduled
- Documenting case/progress notes on all participants through the City of Richmond Department of Justice Services data management system
- Documenting all juvenile activities to include Serious Incident Reports
- Engaging with the Court Service Unit partnering task i.e. Case management, Referrals, and other related duties.
- Additional duties as assigned such as assisting with all community programs.
This position is considered Essential
, which means that the incumbent is required to work when the City is closed due to public emergencies, critical or hazardous conditions, or inclement weather.
This individual may be required to work nights, weekends, holidays, or on call, as needed.
This position is a 20hr part time position only!
Qualifications, Special Certifications And LicensesMINIMUM TRAINING AND
EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Bachelor's degree in human services or social services preferred.
- One year of work experience in social casework or equivalent work experience
- One year of specialized vocational training or equivalent work experience
- An equivalent combination of training and experience (as approved by the department) may be used to meet the minimum qualifications of the classification.

- Excellent interpersonal and oral/written communication, including presentations.
