Richmond Behavioral Health is seeking a full‑time, experienced Prevention Specialist II to coordinate, analyze, and evaluate projects and special contracts designed to assist in the prevention of alcohol, tobacco, drugs, suicide and the promotion of wellness utilizing a variation of prevention strategies. Performs some human support work facilitating groups to increase community’s knowledge/awareness of various risk and protective factors, collaborates and partners with other agencies, provides leadership and information to the community groups and agencies.
Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Program Manager II.
Responsible for needs assessment data collection; design, train and implement various evaluation instruments, serve as lead to the development of the Prevention Needs Assessment. Interacts to a significant degree with the public by representing RBHA primarily in the delivery of wellness education and prevention services with identified target populations.
Experience is required in facilitating programs, delivering trainings and presenting to the community incumbent must have knowledge of data collection and experience in short and long‑range planning. An advanced knowledge of utilizing various social media platforms is required. This position also requires learning and maintaining the prevention web‑based data system and representing the prevention services by serving on the agency and community coalitions, task forces and boards.
EssentialFunctions
- Analyze and evaluates prevention activities designed to assist in the prevention of alcohol, tobacco, drugs, suicide gambling/gaming and other related behavioral health problems in school and community.
- Serve as lead in all data related assessments, surveys, reports requested by DBHDS.
- Research various evidence based programs, culturally relevant prevention models and delivery services in a variety of venues.
- Coordinates prevention related activities and efforts with schools, community, faith based and other organizations.
- Interacts with the public and identified target population while representing the primary mission and vision of RBHA through engaging in health fairs, community activities and other community related programs.
- Provides leadership to the community coalition; serves on and represents various community agency and interagency committees and task forces; provides presentations and consultations.
- Completes and maintains accurate records, reports and data regarding group sessions, community outreach, information dissemination, services provided and other required information.
- Participates in staff and Authority meetings as required.
