Overview
Part-time non-credit instructor position in Tidewater Community College’s Workforce Solutions. This role involves teaching in the college’s non-credit programs, including continuing education for professional development and industry-recognized credentials, offered at TCC campuses and other community locations. Instructors teach in multiple trades and may be assigned to various sites.

Instructors are sought to teach in the following trades:

- Marine Coatings
- Sheet Metal
- Millwright
- Rigging/Signal

- Roofing
- Heavy Equipment Operator
- Forklift
Utilize selected course materials to provide instruction in a classroom and hands-on training lab environment, directing and assessing hands-on training with mockups and related exercises; enforce safety rules and regulations; document and assess student performance and attendance. Instructors should have strong oral and written communication skills and be able to work cooperatively with other staff.
Special Assignments:
May be required to perform other duties as assigned and may assist the agency or state government in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
Required qualifications include:
- Strong commitment to safety and procedure compliance; self-starter; able to work independently; strong verbal and written communication skills;
- Ability to multi-task with a friendly, customer-service demeanor and a desire to teach;
- Experience in the specific trade being taught; additional qualifications vary by trade.
Trade-specific qualifications include experience in teachings for the following trades (examples):
Welding, Pipe fitting, Marine Coatings, Sheet Metal, Millwright, Rigging/Signal, Ship fitter, Carpentry, Electrical, HVAC-R, Plumbing, Roofing, Heavy Equipment Operator, Forklift.
Knowledge of effective teaching strategies that promote student success; proficiency with technology and information/instructional technology resources.
