DAS Maintenance Technician – Richmond, VA

TEKsystems is searching for a DAS Maintenance Technician for our client in the Richmond, VA market. The client specializes in four major telecommunications categories: LMR (Land Mobile Radio), IBS (In‑Building Systems, IDAS), ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems), and Physical Security.

Scope of Work

The scope includes DAS/low voltage installation, maintenance, RMA, public safety, fiber, coax, ODAS/IDAS, new builds, and existing campuses including hospitals, schools, stadiums, and other venues. The home base is Richmond, VA, but candidates must be open to travel and overnight stays in the TN market. An on‑call rotation every 6‑8 weeks is required.

Responsibilities
  • Support DAS maintenance, monitoring, troubleshooting, and warranty support across university campuses, stadiums, commercial buildings, and public‑safety environments.
  • Provide day‑2 support after system turn‑up and handle long‑term customer systems, RMA work, and maintenance for legacy DAS networks.
  • Perform fiber testing and troubleshooting (Fluke, AFL, OTDR). Scoping and splicing of single‑mode fiber.
  • Drive company vehicle; hotels covered; $65.00 per diem for overnight stays.
Qualifications
  • Experience with OEMs: JMA, Corning, Comba, Comm Scope.
  • Knowledge of fiber, coax, and low‑voltage cabling; installation, termination, and testing.
  • Strong problem‑solving, critical‑thinking, and customer‑facing skills.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a crew.
Required Skills
  • Fiber, J Hooks, Low voltage, Cat6, Telecommunication cabling, Installation, Cable puller, site survey, blueprint reading, wireless access points (WAP), PIM testing, sweep testing, inventory management, crew management, organizational skills, termination testing, wireless network, carrier experience.
Job Type & Location

Contract to Hire (CTH) based out of Richmond, VA. 40‑hour work week with overtime opportunities.
