Job Description
This position will provide a safe, effective, comfortable work environment for students, staff, and faculty by keeping all buildings, rooms, furniture, equipment, roofs, and grounds in good working order. If needed, campus may vary. This position is not eligible for telework.
Duties And Tasks- Perform a variety of maintenance projects and preventative maintenance tasks including plumbing, electrical, mechanical and carpentry.
- Specific tasks may include the installation, repair, and maintenance of multiple building systems.
- Assist other trades, perform safety checks, emergency response, maintain and order supplies, as well as perform other duties as assigned.
- Campus assignment may be changed short term or long term based on business needs.
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSAsKSA's/Required Qualifications
- Ability to work with little or no supervision and make sound decisions independently
- Proficient in the use of hand and electric tools, as well as any diagnostic equipment related to the trade
- Ability to lift 75 lbs on a regular basis
- Ability to function in close quarters, or cramped environment.
- Basic understanding of building systems.
- Ability to read technical documents, drawings, and blueprints.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Detail oriented
- Possesses good communication skills.
- Experience with maintenance projects and preventative maintenance of building systems.
- Previous work experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Prior trades experience.
- Valid Virginia driver’s license and insurable driving record.
- A journeyman license in any maintenance trade.
- Experience working in a commercial and/or educational building setting.
