Responsibilities for Low Voltage Technician. This is a first shift 7am to 3:30pm M‑F schedule.
- Servicing, testing, repairing, troubleshooting, and maintaining low‑voltage security cable, equipment, components, and devices associated with Access Control, Video/CCTV, IP Cameras, Fiber, Security, and Voice/Data systems
- Diagnosing malfunctioning systems, apparatus and components using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem
- Installing and mounting electronic devices, panels, sensors, and components
- Use of an Electronic (FLUKE) multimeter to find open circuits, short circuits, and ground‑faulted circuits in networking or other field wiring
- Have a working knowledge of class 2 cabling as it pertains to NFPA 72, BICSI and other relevant codes established and governing the installation of low‑voltage systems
- Analyze blueprints, schematics, and drawings of fire alarm and/or other related electrical system for the purpose of determining the efficient installation of new or upgraded systems
- Inspect electrical and security systems and their components for the purpose of evaluating conditions, identifying necessary repairs, and recommending preventative maintenance
- Review all work orders assigned and provide daily updates to scheduling coordinators and customers
- Communicate all work prior to starting, as well as work completed to the customer upon arrival and before leaving work site
- Demonstrate a strong sense of urgency in completing all assigned work orders
- Inspect customer sites and review work orders, blueprints/plans, and installation manuals to determine material requirements and Data installation procedures to provide customer solutions
- At least 3+ years of experience installing voice and data systems is preferred
- Familiarity with BICSI, EIA, TIA or NEC Standards a plus
- Ability to pass a pre‑employment drug screen, background check and provide two professional references
- Reliable vehicle and valid driver’s license
- Must adhere to OSHA safety standards
- Must be able to see colors/knowledge of color codes
- A well‑developed knowledge of common low‑voltage technology
