Paving Technician; Laborer

Hiring for the 2026 Construction Season. This position involves heavy physical duties related to asphalt milling and paving and may include both semi‑skilled and skilled tasks. The work scope varies by crew assignment and may lead to specialization in roles such as Screed Person, Lute Person, QC Tech, Side Person (mill), Tack Truck Driver, Water Truck Driver, or Utility Adjustment Person.

Overnight stays may be required on occasion, and night and weekend shifts are common during the normal milling and paving season.

• Perform duties involving shoveling, raking, luting, jack hammering, heavy lifting, and the use of multiple small tools related to asphalt milling and paving.
• Clean tools, materials, and work areas.
• Execute a wide variety of manual tasks requiring fine motor skills and eye‑hand coordination.
• Carry out all tasks safely with respect for individual and crew safety.
• Communicate clearly with crew members to ensure safety, teamwork, and the completion of daily goals set by the field manager.
• Perform all outlined duties satisfactorily, demonstrating the knowledge, skill, and ability required for the role.
• Adapt to laborer crew specialties that may require diverse skills such as hand and power tool use, grade checks, jack hammering, equipment operation, cuts and fills, and more.
• Comply with all corporate policies, including safety and “Home Safe Tonight” policies, as well as the AIPS program.

• Engage in extensive and heavy physical activity, dexterity, and fine motor skills.
• Carry very heavy loads of materials, sometimes up to 75 pounds.
• Work in all weather conditions.
• Stand, walk, reach, kneel, climb, or balance as required.
• Utilize vision for close, color, and peripheral tasks.

• Maintain safety for self and fellow workers.
• Work conditions vary by site and are affected by weather.
• Rough, graded, and undeveloped job sites pose safety risks; careless judgment can lead to serious or fatal injuries.
• Work may occasionally occur in confined spaces such as manholes and inlets.
• Operate adjacent to heavy equipment, loud noises, and vibrations of equipment and power tools.
• Work alongside live traffic on most days.

• GED / HS Diploma preferred.
• Trade school education preferred.
• PennDOT Paving QC Technical experience preferred.
• Top Con or similar grade control experience preferred.
• CDL (A, B, Tanker, Hazmat) preferred.
• Tack Truck experience preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of related work experience required.
• Active, valid driver’s license required.
• Good Motor Vehicle Report required.
