Plumber​/Pipefitter Mechanic

Overview

We are hiring experienced commercial Plumber and Pipefitter Mechanics to join our large construction team in the Richmond area. Our Plumber Mechanics and Pipe fitters will layout, fabricate, assemble, and install plumbing and piping systems on large commercial and industrial construction projects. Typical construction projects include hospitals, data centers, high-rises, universities, secondary schools, and government facilities.

• Layout, fabricate, assemble, and install piping systems, fittings, fixtures of heating, water, drainage systems, and equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, and industrial processing systems
• Cut pipe using pipe cutters, port-a-band saw, cutting torch, and pipe cutting machine
• Thread pipe, using a threading machine
• Join piping using welded, grooved, threaded, soldered, brazed, fused, or cemented joints
• Test piping systems for leaks
• Maintain a clean and safe work area
• Work safely, encourage others to do so, and comply with applicable health and safety-related rules, regulations, and procedures
• Perform other duties as directed by job site supervisor
• Pipefitter:
  Assemble and install variety of metal and nonmetal pipe and pipe fittings, including those made of brass, copper, and plastic
• Install and maintain refrigeration and air conditioning systems including compressors, pumps, meters, pneumatic and hydraulic controls, and piping
• May weld holding fixtures to structural steel members

• Work experience as a Plumber Mechanic or Pipefitter for commercial construction projects. (Journeyman level experience is preferred, but not required)
• Experience with layouts and ability to read and work from drawings
• Ability to direct and support the work of a helper or apprentice
• Safety-minded and knowledge of OSHA safety regulations
• Initiative; self-motivated, self-starter
• Knowledge of basic construction/shop math
• Knowledge of International Plumbing Code (IPC)
• Positive attitude and willing to work in a team environment
• Ability to work without direct supervision
• A reliable source of transportation to and from work
