The Maintenance Electrician works with all levels of the Maintenance Organization to repair and perform preventative maintenance on electrical equipment, ensuring the safe and profitable operation of the Chesterfield Plant.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing conductors, cables, conduit, tubing, fittings, electrical boxes, and enclosures
  • Single‑phase and three‑phase motors, DC motors, starters and motor control devices, drives (AC and DC)
  • Grounding, bonding, and cathodic protection systems, overcurrent, ground fault, arc fault, under and over voltage protection, and surge protection devices
  • Low and high voltage systems and components, including single‑phase, three‑phase, and high voltage transformers
  • HVAC electrical components, electrical heating systems and controls
  • Lighting systems and components, emergency lights, and exit signs
  • Security and surveillance, communications systems
  • Performing and documenting electrical PMs
  • Performing basic troubleshooting on all electrical systems and components throughout the plant
  • Rigging and lifting equipment as needed
  • Supporting job plan and shop paper development, parts identification and ordering
  • Interfacing with equipment manufacturers, specialists, and technical support consultants
  • Updating maintenance documentation for critical plant equipment
  • Providing daily support to all plant operations to continue 24/7 operations
  • Performing scheduled and non‑scheduled work orders
  • Reading manuals, schematics, and P&’s
  • Willing to work overtime when required
  • Performing physical tasks in an industrial plant environment including climbing ladders and confined space entries
  • Willing and able to be trained and learn new technologies as the skills of an electrician advance
Basic Qualifications
  • Licensed Journeyman‑level electrician or successful completion of a state‑certified apprenticeship program in utility systems, industrial plant, process plant, or power plant with motor controls and station power systems operating at a minimum of 4160 V.
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 2 years of chemical plant, refinery, or similar industrial plant maintenance experience as an electrician
Additional Qualifications
  • Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Knowledge of electrical system design, selection, repair techniques and performance assessment
  • Well‑rounded field experience applying good engineering practices to electrical repair work for a variety of typical process plant equipment
  • Knowledge of utility systems and equipment
  • Knowledge of tools and methods necessary to troubleshoot and maintain electrical and electronic equipment
  • Knowledge of the principles of electronics
  • Knowledge of and ability to interpret local, state, and national electrical codes
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and ability to comply with OSHA procedures
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, control system drawings, and repair manuals
  • Ability to perform basic math computations
  • Self‑motivated and goal‑oriented individual with proven success working independently and in a multi‑functional team environment
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and move objects that weigh up to 50 lbs., and exert up to 75 lb pull
