This individual applies technical and electrical principles in a number of areas including heating, cooling, refrigeration, motors, fire alarms, and generator equipment.

What You’ll Do:

  • Troubleshoot and repair a wide variety of residential electrical systems in an efficient and professional manner.
  • Install, service, and repair lighting fixtures, electrical panels, outlets, and wiring.
  • Diagnose the cause of problems and/or failures in electrical systems for the purpose of identifying equipment and/or systems repair and/or replacement needs.
  • Operate power hand tools and other specialized electrical equipment.
  • Install, repair, and service specialized electrical equipment and machinery.
  • Construct and maintain service equipment.
  • Read electrical circuit diagrams.
  • Requisition material and supplies from stockroom, call vendors to discuss needs for parts and supplies, and recommend purchases and suppliers.
  • May do other trades work incidental to electrical work.
  • Supervise apprentice Electricians during their training period.
  • Maintain vehicle, tools, and equipment for the purpose of ensuring availability and safe operating condition.
  • Participate in meetings, workshops, training, and seminars as assigned to gather information required to perform or enhance job functions.
  • Prepare written materials (e.g., repair status, activity logs, work orders, etc.) for customers as well as supervisors to document job status and provide estimates.
  • Coordinate with other trades for the purpose of completing projects and work orders efficiently.
  • Respond to emergency situations during or after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
Qualifications

What You’ll Bring:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Must have graduated from an approved Electrician training program.
  • 4+years of experience as an Electrician.
  • Currently licensed as an Electrician in Virginia.
  • Committed to safety in the use of all hand and power tools.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Safety and customer service oriented.
  • Fluent English-speaking and writing skills.
  • Neat, clean, and professional appearance.
  • Organized and detail oriented.
  • Driving Requirements
    • Must have a valid Virginia driver’s license.
    • Must have positive points on state driving record.
    • Must be at least 21 years of age unless company approval is granted.
    • Must not have had a DUI, DWI, or reckless driving conviction in the last five years.
