Job Title: Field Service Technician •
Location: Richmond, VA
Technical Diagnostic Services (TDS), a Tech Pro Power Group company, based in Fort Worth, TX, has been delivering industry‑leading service solutions for over 25 years that empower its customers to safely start up and optimize the performance of their facilities’ mechanical, electrical, and controls systems. TDS provides mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and control construction, testing, and start‑up and commissioning services to the Power Generation, Oil & Gas/Petrochemical, Heavy Process, and other Industrial end markets.
We’re a dynamic and rapidly growing company seeking skilled Electrical Field Service Technicians to support a large Data Center project in the greater Richmond, Virginia area.
Key Responsibilities- Perform acceptance testing for electrical equipment within Data Center facilities.
- Safely use hand and power tools, metering & testing equipment, and precision instruments.
- Collaborate with internal team members & customers/end‑users to complete projects within defined timelines.
- Follow safety protocols and adhere to all relevant regulations and guidelines.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
- Expertise in switch gear maintenance, troubleshooting, and breaker installation.
- Strong electrical aptitude, understanding of power systems and problem‑solving skills.
- Thorough understanding of LDL, L2, L3 inspections and testing procedures.
- Proficiency in secondary injection testing of breakers and PT/CT wiring installations.
- Familiarity with bus installations, meter configurations, and control wiring.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
- Hands‑on experience with testing and maintenance tools (multimeters, megohmmeters, etc).
- Strong communication skills for interacting with customers and providing technical support.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical issues and provide timely resolutions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience with daily reporting and documentation of work performed.
- Willingness to travel to various project sites within the U.S.
- Commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols.
- Minimum 3‑5+ years of experience in switch gear installation, testing, and maintenance, preferably in industrial, utility, and/or data center environments.
- Knowledge of industry‑specific electrical code, regulations, and related safety standards/protocols (OSHA, NFPA 70E).
Project(s): Data Center Site
Location(s): Richmond, VA area
Per Diem: Yes, $175/day × 7 days per week
Mobility/ Demob: Yes, $1,000/each way
Schedule: Full‑time 5‑10’s (Mon‑Fri) to 6‑10’s (Mon‑Sat)
Pay‑rate: Based upon level of expertise.
Overtime: Potential variation.
Start Date: Immediately – Early‑Mid May 2025.
