Security Officer – Various full time shifts (Day, Eve, Night)

The Security Officer provides security services to VCUHS by courteously assisting staff, visitors and patients; enforcing rules and regulations of the hospitals; projecting a positive image; and promoting a safe healthcare environment.

• Conveys an image of professionalism, behaving in a way that is conducive to good hospital and community relations.
• Unarmed, non-sworn security position.
• De-escalates agitated patients, both individually and as a member of a team.
• Prevents potentially risky and/or violent situations.

• Experience
  
  REQUIRED:
  
  Previous knowledge of security and/or law enforcement measures and techniques at a level generally acquired during 6 to 12 months of on-the-job training and orientation in such techniques or college curriculum in Administration of Justice
• Experience PREFERRED:
  One (1) year of security, public safety or law enforcement work experience
• Education/training
  
  REQUIRED:
  
  High School Diploma or equivalent
• Education/training PREFERRED:
  Associates Degree in Criminal Justice or related field
• Independent Action(s)

• Age Specific Groups Served:

• Ability to work all shifts including weekends and holidays and extended hours based on schedule and organizational needs.
• Some Security Officer roles may require valid Virginia Driver’s License and acceptable driving record that reflects safe and lawful motor vehicle operation
