The Opportunity
We are seeking a motivated Outside Sales Representative to support business development efforts in the Greater Richmond area. This role focuses on generating new client relationships and securing hiring engagements for our executive search and recruitment services. This is a 1099 independent contractor position with a performance-based compensation structure and significant earning potential for experienced B2B sales professionals.
Role OverviewThe Outside Sales Representative will be responsible for prospecting, client outreach, and managing employer relationships. Our internal recruitment team handles candidate sourcing, screening, and fulfillment after a client engagement is secured. This structure allows you to focus on sales and account development while being supported by an established recruiting infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities- Business Development:
Identify and engage hiring managers, founders, and HR leaders throughout the Greater Richmond market. - Client Acquisition:
Present and sell our recruiting solutions including Contingent, Exclusive, and Retained search models. - Needs Assessment:
Conduct job intake calls to understand role requirements, timelines, and hiring goals. - Account Management:
Maintain ongoing relationships with clients to support repeat hiring needs. - Pipeline Management:
Track outreach, meetings, and opportunities using CRM tools.
- 2+ years of experience in B2B sales, staffing sales, recruiting sales, or business development.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Comfortable working in a commission-based compensation structure.
- Self‑motivated with strong time management and organizational skills.
- Familiarity with CRM platforms such as Hub Spot or Salesforce is a plus.
- Established professional network in the Richmond area preferred.
This is a commission‑only 1099 role with uncapped earnings. There is no base salary. Compensation is directly tied to closed client engagements and successful placements.
- Commission: 30% of the gross placement fee.
- Average Client Fee: 20% of the candidate's first‑year salary.
- Payout:
Issued after client payment is received. - No caps or quotas.
If a role is filled with a $150,000 salary and the placement fee is $30,000, the commission would be $9,000.
Support & Infrastructure- Dedicated recruiting team for candidate sourcing and screening.
- Administrative support for contracts and invoicing.
- Established service delivery process.
- Marketing and sales materials provided.
This is an independent contractor (1099) position based in the Greater Richmond area. The role involves outreach, meetings, and relationship development with local businesses and hiring decision-makers.
