Job SummaryThe Project Data Manager will provide critical data management and analytic preparation support for clinical and population‑based research projects. Working under the supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI) or Senior Statistician, the analyst will be responsible for data acquisition, cleaning, coding, documentation, and preliminary descriptive analyses to ensure that datasets are accurate, well‑structured, and ready for advanced statistical modeling.
Typical Duties- Identify, extract, and merge data from multiple sources, including electronic health records, cancer registries, surveys, and publicly available datasets.
- Perform data cleaning, validation, recoding, and documentation to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
- Generate descriptive statistics, frequency tables, and summary reports to support study aims and data review by senior statistician and investigators.
- Maintain clear data dictionaries, codebooks, and documentation to support transparency and reproducibility.
- Prepare analytic datasets (wide/long formats) and variable derivations required for modeling and multilevel analyses.
- Use statistical and database tools (SAS, R, SQL, Excel, REDCap) for data management, transformation, and reporting.
- Collaborate with the senior statistician to ensure appropriate dataset structure and variable coding for regression and mixed models.
- Assist in data visualization and preparation of tables and figures for reports, presentations, and manuscripts.
- Adhere to institutional and study‑specific data governance, confidentiality, and security protocols.
- Provide regular progress updates to the project team and proactively flag data or quality issues.
Minimum Education Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in business, math, computer science, data science, data analytics, statistics, or related field; or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated ability to foster an environment of respect, professionalism, and civility with a diverse faculty, staff, and student population.
- 5+ years of experience in data management, cleaning, and preparation for research or statistical analysis (academic, healthcare, or public health setting preferred).
- Proficiency with SAS and/or R for data manipulation, merging, and reporting.
- Experience with REDCap and familiarity with structured/unstructured data sources (e.g., EMR, registry, or survey data).
- Strong attention to detail, documentation, and quality control practices.
- Excellent organizational and time‑management skills, with the ability to meet project deadlines.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills and ability to collaborate within multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience working with health or cancer‑related datasets.
- Proficiency with SAS or R Software.
- Familiarity with IRB, HIPAA, and data security standards for research data.
- Basic understanding of epidemiologic or biostatistical concepts.

Salary RangeSalary Range: Starting at $35.00/hr, commensurate with experience.
