Tier 1 Supplemental Staffing RNs provide support to the organization by floating to multiple units and/or areas within the VCU Health System (VCUHS). This flex pool includes Registered Nurses who work within inpatient areas for adults and/or pediatrics. The flex pool provides 24/7 support to VCUHS inpatient units, procedural areas, peri‑operative and other specialties. Reassignment may occur in առ4‑hour blocks, and may include an opportunity to float to other VCUHS facilities.
ClinicalNurse II Responsibilities
Mastery of clinical skills is demonstrated and applied to a specific patient population. The role supports the health‑care team in preventing illness and injury, maintaining wellness, and providing comfort. It recognizes changes in patient situations and intervenes appropriately, mobilizes resources to meet individualized needs, provides direction and education, and assumes consumer‑team leadership prechpartner anesthesia delivers accurate, age‑specific care to patients or groups based on medical orders and an integrated, multidisciplinary plan of care.

Employee must complete 15 contact hours of Continuing Nursing Education during this evaluation cycle. Effective July 2012: CN‑III must complete 20 contact hours; failure to achieve the required number of contact hours will result in the employee being ineligible to receive an overall performance rating above “Fully Meets”.

The Clinical Nurse II demonstrates competent use of the nursing process as a problem‑solving model in performance of job duties. Focuses assessment on target areas most productive for a given patient population or situation. Recognizes subtle changes in clinical situations and evaluates and appropriately alters the plan of care. Consistently makes sound clinical decisions, prioritizes patient care, and initiates discharge care planning in assigned patients, actively coordinating multidisciplinary services.
The Clinical Nurse III demonstrates competent use of the nursing process as a problem‑solving model. Synthesizes knowledge and experience to anticipate and plan to meet patient and family needs, taking a proactive role in implementing multidisciplinary care planning for a specific patient population.
