Overview

Registered Nurse RN Mother Baby Part Time – As a valued member of our team, your voice to influence patient care is encouraged through open, collaborative relationships with your direct manager and through hospital councils and national nursing initiatives. You will help shape decisions that elevate patient outcomes and the future of nursing.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver patient-centered nursing care to mothers following delivery, including education on what to expect post-delivery and how to recognize postpartum complications.
  • Provide patient-centered nursing care to the newborn and participate in family education, including preparing new mothers to care for their newborn.
  • Work closely with a multidisciplinary team (nurses, obstetricians, perinatologists, IBCLC lactation consultants, and patient care staff) to support patients and participate in patient and family education.
  • Monitor, record, and communicate patient conditions using computerized documentation systems.
  • Coordinate discharge planning needs with the healthcare team.
  • Maintain cultural awareness when interacting with patients, visitors, co-workers, and other customers, and perform additional duties as needed.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (BSN preferred).
  • Current Registered Nurse license in Virginia or current Multistate Compact license.
  • 1 year of nursing experience in an acute care hospital setting.
  • 1 year of nursing experience in maternal-infant, labor and delivery, obstetrics, or a related specialty.
  • Current American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS/BCLS) certification.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
