Job SummaryThe HCA Nurse Residency Program at Chippenham Hospital provides future nurses with a year‑long, paid training program that helps transition from student nurse to registered nurse. The program includes advanced clinical training, monthly educational sessions, preceptorship, simulation, and mentoring. The RN Resident will coordinate and deliver high‑quality, patient‑centered care in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit.

- Assess patient condition during admission and each shift, identifying and reporting changes in status
- Perform procedures, monitoring, and other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s); document care in the patient medical record promptly and thoroughly
- Administer prescribed medications, monitor therapeutic response, notify provider, and intervene on unintended reactions
- Respond promptly to patient requests and proactively anticipate and resolve needs
- Teach patients, families, and caregivers about condition, treatment plan, medications, side effects, and follow‑up measures; translate complex terminology into clear language
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) obtained within 30 days of employment
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) obtained within 1 year of employment
- Other certifications may be required during employment
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
- Registered Nurse license or Graduate Nurse in the state
- No previous experience required
- Travel may be required for training
