Med/Surg RN Job Details – Richmond, VA

• Location:
  
  Richmond, VA 23225 (Virginia healthcare jobs)
• Facility: 33-bed Medical-Surgical/Telemetry/Trauma unit, 6th floor of main hospital
• Employment Type:
  
  Locum tenens (travel nursing contract)
• Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Assignment Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 8/4/2025 – End: 11/3/2025)
• Patient Ratio: 5-6:1
• Dress Code:
  Navy scrubs (no cotton jackets)
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1750-$1800

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active RN license in Virginia or compact state (Registered Nurse jobs in VA)
• Minimum 2 years of recent hospital experience
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Proficient in basic rhythm interpretation (rhythm test required)
• Medical-Surgical nursing experience preferred
• Strong patient care focus and excellent communication skills

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients on a busy Med/Surg/Telemetry/Trauma unit
• Monitor, assess, and document patient conditions using Meditech EMR
• Administer medications and collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams
• Operate clinical equipment: EKG, code cart, Welch Allyn vital machines, vascular Doppler, wound vacs, Carescape monitors
• Assist with procedures such as small I&Ds, peritoneal dialysis, and occasional thoracentesis
• Maintain a positive attitude and adaptability in a fast-paced hospital environment
