The LPN job commences to integrate technical skills and theoretical knowledge to meet the needs of the patient and family. This role assists the health care team with the prevention of illness and injury, maintenance of wellness, and provision of comfort. This role also provides direction, education, and begins to assume leadership responsibilities at the unit level.
The LPN job delivers and accurately documents direct, age-specific care to a patient or group of patients based on medical orders and an integrated, multidisciplinary plan of care. This role safely administers prescribed medications, identifying incompatibilities and/or interactions.
The position is for the pediatric primary care group practice (resident clinic). We typically have 5-7 resident providers seeing patients at a time and see about 60-80 patients per day (each day varies). Typical patient population ranges from newborns to 11 years old. We mostly see kiddos for their well child visit/routine checkup but do see sick visits throughout the day also.
Duties- Obtaining health history
- Obtaining vital signs
- Performing hearing and vision screenings
- Administering vaccines and medications (oral and injections)
- Handling in basket messages & calls
- Chart prepping
- Documenting via EMR (EPIC)
Licensure, certification or registration varies depending on the incumbent's employment background and transitional assignment;
LPN licensure in Virginia or eligible Licensure,
Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employmentCurrent LPN Licensure in Virginia AHA BLS Certification or equivalent
Experience REQUIREDVaries based on transitional duty assignment.
Experience PREFERREDExperience as a LPN in either an acute care setting or as applicable to area of practice
Education/training REQUIREDGraduate from a Board of Nursing approved School of Practical Nursing
