Medical Surgical Licensed Practical Nurse

Key Responsibilities

• Provide basic nursing care to medical‑surgical patients in accordance with established policies and procedures
• Perform patient assessments including vital signs, pain levels, intake and output, and report changes to the RN
• Administer medications as prescribed and within LPN scope of practice
• Assist with wound care, dressing changes, and post‑operative care
• Provide catheter care, IV therapy, and blood draws (as permitted by state regulations)
• Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), mobility, and hygiene
• Monitor patient condition and promptly report abnormal findings
• Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR)
• Collaborate with RNs, physicians, and interdisciplinary care teams
• Follow infection control, safety, and quality assurance standards
• Educate patients and families on basic care instructions as directed

• Graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing (LPN) program
• Current, active LPN license in the state of practice
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification required

• Previous Med‑Surg or acute care experience preferred
• New graduates may be considered
