The LPN role integrates technical skills and theoretical knowledge to meet the needs of patients and families. It assists the healthcare team with prevention of illness and injury, maintenance of wellness, and provision of comfort. It also provides direction, education, and begins to assume leadership responsibilities at the unit level.
Responsibilities- Provide direct, age‑specific patient or group care based on medical orders and a multidisciplinary plan of care.
- Safely administer prescribed medications, identifying incompatibilities and/or interactions.
- Accurately document direct care and all clinical activities.
- Follow documented physician or licensed independent provider orders, standards, and practice guidelines.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to develop, implement, and evaluate individual patient care plans.
- LPN licensure in Virginia or eligible.
- Current LPN licensure in Virginia.
- AHA BLS Certification or equivalent.

Varies based on transitional duty assignment. - Preferred:
Experience as an LPN in acute care or related area of practice.

Licensed Practical Nurses work all three shifts, weekends, and holidays. Individual shift rotation and schedules will be established with the Nurse Manager/Practice Manager. Schedules and shift rotations may be adjusted as necessary to meet unit requirements.
Physical and Other Requirements- Lifting 50–100 lbs.
- Exposure to potentially hazardous and infectious substances.
- Physical activity: prolonged standing, sitting, bending, walking, climbing stairs or ladder, reaching overhead, extensive repetitive motions.
- Mental/Sensory: strong recall, reasoning, problem solving, hearing, speaking clearly, writing legibly, reading, logical thinking.
- Emotional: steady pace, frequent and intense customer interactions, noisy environment, ability to adapt to frequent change.
