Job SummaryThe registered nurse coordinates and delivers high‑quality, patient‑centred care per the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. In collaboration with medical providers and other members of the care team, the RN provides individualised, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as “Assess, Perform, Teach and Manage.”
The RN serves as an advocate for patients, families and caregivers and models a commitment to the organisation’s vision, mission and values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental performance.
- Assess patient condition during admission and during each shift as scheduled and/or as needed, identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
- Perform procedures, monitoring or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s). Document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
- Provide exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests. Strive to anticipate patient needs and resolve them proactively.
- Manage the quality of care by collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate, evaluate, customise and deliver a holistic patient treatment plan that promotes and supports recovery.
- Manage the continuation of care by serving as the interface between healthcare providers and community support systems who coordinate ongoing care needs for specialised patient groups.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 60 days of employment start date.
- Registered Nurse (RN) licence.
- Registered Nurse Diploma.
