Overview

The Maggie Walker Community Land Trust (MWCLT) is a nonprofit organization founded in 2016 to provide permanently affordable home ownership opportunities for low and moderate-income households in Richmond, Virginia. Through the Community Land Trust model, the MWCLT ensures homes remain affordable by retaining ownership of the land, while qualified buyers purchase the homes with significant subsidies. This approach enables families to build wealth through home ownership while maintaining long-term affordability for future buyers.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role based in Richmond, VA, for a Grant Writer. The Grant Writer will be responsible for identifying and researching potential funding opportunities, writing compelling grant proposals, and managing grant application processes. Additional responsibilities include maintaining relationships with funders, tracking and reporting grant activities, and collaborating with the team to develop fundraising strategies to support MWCLT’s mission and programs.

Qualifications
  • Proficiency in Grant Writing and Proposal Writing to produce compelling, results-driven funding applications.
  • Skills in Grant Administration and knowledge of managing grant compliance and reporting requirements.
  • Experience conducting Prospect Research to identify and evaluate potential funding opportunities.
  • Proven ability in Fundraising to support nonprofit financial goals effectively.
  • Strong writing, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Experience working in the nonprofit sector or with community-focused organizations is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or a related field is desired.
  • Passion for affordable housing, community development, or social equity initiatives preferred.
