Vice President of Corporate Mergers and Acquisitions
Location: May be located in any Elevance Health PulsePoint office, preferably in New York, NY, Indianapolis, IN, Chicago, IL, Atlanta, GA, Mason, OH, or Richmond, VA.
This role requires associates to be in-office at least 3 days per week, fostering collaboration and connectivity, while providing flexibility to support productivity and work-life balance. This approach combines structured office engagement with the autonomy of virtual work, promoting a dynamic and adaptable workplace. Alternate locations may be considered. Summary
The Vice President of Corporate Mergers and Acquisitions is a senior leader responsible for identifying and driving inorganic growth opportunities that enhance long-term enterprise value. This innovative leader will oversee mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and strategic partnerships while being a trusted advisor to executive leadership and business unit heads. The role requires close collaboration with Finance, Strategy, Legal, and Operations to ensure transactions are strategically aligned, thoroughly evaluated, and effectively integrated for optimal financial and operational results.
Additionally, this position plays a crucial role in promoting enterprise connectivity, fostering post-close value realization, and enhancing M&A capabilities through process improvements and technology adoption.
Position Responsibilities
Enterprise Growth & Strategy
Identify, define, and advance inorganic growth opportunities aligned with the overall enterprise strategy and growth priorities.
Collaborate with business unit leaders to shape strategic plans, identify unexplored opportunities, and source transactions across target verticals.
Assess potential mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and partnerships, focusing on strategic rationale, financial impact, risk assessment, and value creation potential.
Advise executive management on capital allocation, portfolio strategy, and growth decisions.
Mergers, Acquisitions & Divestitures
Oversee the full M&A execution process, including target identification, diligence, valuation, deal structuring, negotiation, and closure.
Contribute significantly during negotiations, collaborating effectively with internal and external stakeholders to secure favorable outcomes.
Develop and manage comprehensive financial models, including deal scenarios, to guide investment decisions.
Present transaction strategies, updates, and post-close performance insights to executive committees.
Stay engaged post-transaction to facilitate integration, value realization, and performance monitoring.
Work with leaders to build operational models and ensure performance metrics align with pre-deal expectations.
Continuously monitor and communicate the performance of acquired businesses, identifying risks, opportunities, and insights.
Maintain effective communication with internal stakeholders involved in transaction diligence and execution.
Enterprise Collaboration & Relationship Management
Create and sustain strong relationships with business unit leaders and other key enterprise partners.
Enhance coordination with experts across Finance, Operations, Legal, HR, and Technology.
Serve as a key link between the M&A function and the broader enterprise to ensure transparency and accountability for outcomes.
Process Excellence & Innovation
Enhance M&A processes, governance, and reporting for increased efficiency and scalability.
Streamline workflows to minimize manual efforts and complexity.
Utilize data analytics and emerging AI tools to improve diligence, reporting, and decision-making processes.
Eliminate low-value meetings while enhancing clarity and executive readiness.
People Leadership & Capability Development
Lead and cultivate a high-performing corporate development team.
Set expectations, coach team members, and build strong succession plans.
Effectively allocate resources to support transaction execution and integration.

Position Requirements
An MBA and a minimum of 10 years of M&A and/or investment banking experience are required; equivalent education and experience will be considered.
