OverviewThe Infrastructure Manager manages department equipment and related policies to ensure responsible, proper, and safe operation of all DAR equipment. The role reports to the Associate Director for Infrastructure and may serve as a backup in that capacity.
Responsibilities- Identify deficiencies of DAR-owned equipment.
- Prioritize repairs and coordinate necessary work based on skill and cost analysis.
- Prepare and document a comprehensive preventative maintenance program.
- Provide equipment training to DAR personnel.
- Evaluate, plan, and coordinate equipment replacement.
- Maintain fixed assets inventory database and internal DAR database, keeping records up to date and identifying high-priority capital assets.
- Select capital equipment in need of upgrade or replacement, manage vendor solicitation, review quotes, and oversee procurement and renovation processes.
- Maintain warehouse operations, including spare equipment, PPE inventory, and consumables for animal care staff and veterinarians.
- Manage deliveries and transfers; supervise the delivery driver/operations coordinator.
- Supervise the equipment technician and operations coordinator.
- Act as DAR project manager for construction and renovation projects, including AAALAC prep workup renovations.
- Serve as the direct contact with VCU facilities personnel, vendors, and contractors as DAR representative.
- Demonstrated ability to work and foster an environment of respect, professionalism, and civility.
- Several years of facilities management experience with mechanical systems and machinery.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, follow instructions, and prioritize time effectively.
- Basic knowledge of safety procedures and OSHA.
- Valid driver’s license.
