We are seeking a highly motivated individual in the Richmond, VA area who can grow our water‑wastewater section in a collaborative and progressive workplace. This position offers excellent potential for career advancement, including leading the water/wastewater engineering practice in the region and supporting national growth into other regions.
Position SummaryResponsible for business development, financial success, and managing staff for the department at the local level.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities- Coordinate strategic growth plans with office managers and practice leaders.
- Establish and grow market presence in the area through marketing and business development.
- Manage financial budget for the department and allocate resources accordingly.
- Lead and contribute to the production of proposals.
- Serve as a technical expertise resource to project managers and technical staff.
- Establish resources and staffing needs for the section.
- Interview and hire staff for the section.
- Perform performance reviews for staff based on input from project managers on assigned teams.
- Lead and manage team members by providing leadership and continuous performance management (setting expectations, goals, feedback, 1:1 meetings, coaching) that supports the growth and development of the team.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field from an accredited program.
- Professional Engineer License or equivalent.
- 10+ years of experience in a specialized discipline.
- Project management and business development experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Experience working with local clients at the county and state level.
- Supervisory experience.
Work is performed within a general office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc., within the office environment.
