Job SummaryeTEC is seeking a Safety Manager with experience in Commercial Construction in Richmond, Virginia. This position will work from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday – Friday.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Monitor compliance with corporate environmental health and safety policies and procedures and safe work practices
- Evaluate the effectiveness of administrative controls to protect and promote employees' health and safety and satisfy customers' requirements
- Visit job sites to evaluate compliance with regulatory bodies and standards (including but not limited to OSHA, DOT, EPA, etc.) and corporate safe work practices; report findings and recommendations to field leadership
- Liaison with employees to address concerns regarding health and safety policies
- Track injury and incident metrics to identify trends; recommend appropriate hazards controls
- Assist investigations of workplace accidents and injuries; make recommendations to correct issues
- Analyze accident reports and incident trends based n available facts; recommend evidence-based safety performance goals
- Oversee fleet and driver program; maintain drivers' motor vehicle records for regulated and non-regulated vehicle drivers; manage fleet maintenance program
- Ensure that federal, state and local safety laws, regulations, codes and rules are observed, and that local and OSHA recordkeeping and reporting requirements are met
- Assist with the application for necessary work permits as needed
- Bachelor's degree required (preferably in environmental health and safety)
- 3+ years' experience in the construction industry (mechanical, electrical, plumbing preferred; fabrication shop experience a plus)
- Knowledge of OSHA and EPA standards with regard to construction
- Proficient with MS Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint)
- Ability to train, influence and motivate team members
- Travel required (25 to 30 percent)
