Overview

Mountain Empire Community College is a comprehensive two‑year college serving residents of Lee, Scott, Wise, and Dickenson counties, and the City of Norton. MECC is one of twenty‑three colleges in the Virginia Community College System and operates under policies established by the State Board for Community Colleges and the Local Advisory Board. The College is financed primarily with state funds, supplemented by contributions from the local jurisdictions.

Responsibilities

The Housekeeping positions provide the campus population with an environmentally safe and secure area for the fulfillment of the MECC educational purpose.

Qualifications
  • Knowledge of cleaning methods and the use of cleaning chemicals.
  • Commercial cleaning experience in operating commercial floor care equipment.
  • Accepts constructive feedback and implements direction in a positive and professional manner.
  • Works well independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to complete assigned tasks within established time frames and quality standards.
  • Ability to work in occupied academic and office spaces while maintaining confidentiality and discretion.
  • Self-motivated and dependable with the ability to work independently during overnight hours with limited supervision.
  • Demonstrates personal responsibility and ownership of assigned areas.
Minimum

Required Qualifications
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Knowledge and use of cleaning methods and chemicals.

Previous commercial cleaning experience. Operation of a State Vehicle:
