This position will provide a full range of custodial/housekeeping services for college facilities, including trash removal, vacuuming, mopping, dusting, sweeping, floor stripping and waxing, carpet cleaning, window cleaning, black/white-board cleaning, and other cleaning tasks as assigned. The custodian will also assist with room set‑up/take‑down, light bulb replacement, and maintain good attendance habits. As an essential position, the employee must be able to report to work during weather or emergent conditions and perform snow‑removal activities when required.
WorkSchedule
Monday‑Friday 6:00 pm – 11:30 pm, with rotating Saturdays. Part Time up to 29 hours.
Responsibilities- Provide cleaning services to the college’s buildings, including daily trash removal, mopping, dusting, sweeping, and vacuuming.
- Assist in the set‑up and take‑down of special events when assigned.
- Comply with laws and procedures for storage and disposal of trash and waste.
- Climb a six‑foot ladder and lift up to 50 lbs unaided.
- During inclement weather, report to work and assist with snow removal from entries and walkways, and apply snow‑melt when required.
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
Qualifications- Knowledge of custodial operations and industry standards.
- Working knowledge of the principles and practices of janitorial, custodial, housekeeping services, and sanitizing techniques.
- Ability to climb ladders without assistance.
- Ability to lift objects up to 50 lbs.
- Skills in using housekeeping equipment such as vacuum cleaners, buffers, and scrubbing machines.
- Knowledge of safety procedures, particularly as they relate to equipment operation, chemical use, and trash/recycling.
No required travel. No supervisory responsibilities.
