Richmond – Environmental Associate

Overview

Hunton seeks an experienced attorney to join its nationally recognized Environmental Law practice as a full-time partnership-track associate in Richmond, VA or Washington, DC. The ideal candidate will have at least four years of experience in environmental law, including compliance counseling, enforcement defense, litigation, permitting and other regulatory authorizations, or agency rule making. Experience in private practice, a trade association, and/or a government agency is valued.

The environmental team emphasizes collaboration and mentoring, with opportunities to work on precedent-setting matters and long-term projects for established clients.

A successful candidate is dedicated to the practice of environmental law, self-motivated, intellectually curious, has good judgment, responsiveness, perseverance, and strong written and oral communication skills. • Join the environmental practice group as a full-time partnership-track associate in either Richmond, VA or Washington, DC.
• Provide environmental law services in areas including compliance counseling, enforcement defense, litigation, permitting and other regulatory authorizations, and agency rule making.
• Collaborate within a diverse team, contribute to client matters with direct client contact, and participate in mentoring and training.
• Work on interesting, long-term projects for established clients.

• At least four years of experience practicing environmental law in relevant contexts.
• Experience in private practice, a trade association, and/or a government agency is preferred.
• Virginia bar membership is preferred and required within one year of joining the firm.
• Strong written and oral communication skills, good judgment, self-motivation, and perseverance.
