Are you a junior attorney with experience in personal injury, insurance defense, or general litigation looking for a more stable, predictable, and growth-oriented career path?
Prospect Blue’s client — a respected leader in the specialty insurance industry — is seeking an Entry-Level Claims Counsel to join their in-house team in Richmond, Virginia.
This is an exceptional opportunity for attorneys who enjoy evaluating cases, communicating with counsel, and analyzing liability and damages — but want to step outside the traditional law firm model.
No prior insurance coverage experience is required. If you can think critically, write well, and are eager to learn, you’ll receive robust training and mentorship from seasoned in-house attorneys and claims professionals.
Compensation is competitive for junior lawyers, ranging from $100,000–$130,000 depending on experience, plus eligibility for a 15% annual bonus
.
This position is fully in-office (Monday–Friday, 8:30am–5:00pm), and interviews will be conducted onsite. No remote or flex-time opportunities are available.
What You’ll Do:
- Manage specialty insurance claims from initial intake through resolution
- Apply your litigation instincts to evaluate coverage, liability, and exposure
- Work directly with outside defense counsel and help guide case strategy
- Participate in mediations and settlement discussions
- Communicate with insureds and internal teams to move claims forward efficiently

What You Bring:
- J.D. and an active law license (in good standing) in any U.S. jurisdiction

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
