Job SummaryOur client is seeking a skilled Senior Network Security Engineer to design, implement, and support secure enterprise network and firewall infrastructure. This role will play a critical part in strengthening boundary security, advancing network architecture, and ensuring resilient, compliant, and scalable infrastructure across the organization.
The ideal candidate brings strong expertise in network and firewall technologies, infrastructure‑as‑code, automation, and secure systems engineering. This individual will collaborate closely with cross‑functional IT teams and business stakeholders to develop and execute strategic security initiatives, while delivering secure, high‑performing network solutions that align with operational and business requirements.
This is a hands‑on engineering role requiring advanced technical capabilities, strong problem‑solving skills, and the ability to translate complex technical and business requirements into effective, secure network and security solutions.
Responsibilities- Develop conceptual, logical and physical IT engineering designs that support the requirements of varying levels of technical and business application projects.
- Complete analysis of business requirements as it relates to technical infrastructure design and ensure traceability of the design to the business requirements.
- Assess testing requirements and prepare testing strategies, as well as preparing implementation and migration plans.
- Senior level position requires expertise in the field and proven knowledge of industry practices.
- Requires significant level of experience and be considered a subject matter expert in the field with a hands‑on role.
- Develop, document and execute network and security designs for the implementation of network and security services.
- Perform resolution of complex hardware and problems affecting application systems; initiate problem avoidance actions.
- Prepare and implement detailed specifications from which release programs will be written.
- Analyze and revise existing system logic and documentation as necessary; configure, test and deploy infrastructure releases, both hardware and software.
- Recommend solutions to minimize and/or prevent system interruption.
- Drive the roadmap and strategy development for the technology capability lifecycle.
- Perform change and problem management using standard tools following enterprise change management policies and procedures for software/hardware propagation to other platforms and/or environments.
- Lead complex projects and participate in technical/complex projects; provide project updates and prepare management reports as required.
- Utilize available tools for automation of manual processes.
- Follow and ensure adherence to technical standards for programming and design techniques.
- Train system technical staff on use of software/hardware tools in accordance with required standards and procedures.
- Contribute to development and revision of department standards and procedures.
- Assist with monitoring compliance with internal audit requirements and Information Security Manual guidelines.
- Proficient with general network architecture design and risk management decision making and analysis.
- Proficient with network, and firewall technologies.
- Be able to configure, build, stage, and deploy network and firewall policy and infrastructure as code.
- Proficient with Linux and Windows Server.
- Proficient in scripting languages such as Python, Ansible, Puppet.
- Knowledge of system security controls.
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals (routing, switching, VLANs, SPANs, TCP/IP protocols).
- Experience with TCP/IP packet analysis and networking protocols.
- Provide management and executive level reports of progress status and changes.
- Participate in cross‑functional teams with various stakeholders on assignments under tight deadlines.
- Collaborate closely with IT functions and business areas to develop and execute strategic plans in improving boundary security.
