ResponsibilitiesThe Department of Veterans Services is seeking an experienced Information Analyst to join the Information Technology team. This position will report to the DVS Chief Technology Officer and Information Security officer, who oversees and manages the Information Technology Directorate. The Information Security Analyst implements and manages the DVS’s Information Security Program across all applications, networks and IT assets. Provide guidance on security and privacy issues to all levels of agency staff.
Manage security activities in risk management, resource provisioning, disaster planning and recovery, application security, incident management and data preservation, user training and physical security. The Information Security Analyst will interact with various divisions within DVS staff to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of IT resources and information.
The Information Security Analyst will ensure the agency is in compliance with federal, state and other regulatory agents’ plans, policies, regulations, requirements, and standards. Interacts with agency users, agency or external senior management and/or representatives, including Commonwealth Security and Risk Management (CSRM), the Virginia Information Technologies Agency (VITA), various VITA vendors and Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC).
Minimum QualificationsConsiderable knowledge of Commonwealth of Virginia IT Security policies and standards preferred. Knowledge and understanding of information technology and security including operational security, applications security, physical security, management and strategic planning. Security experience in a technical environment that primarily includes Office 365, Cloud applications, Vendor Hosted Apps, Firewalls, Active Directory, Virtual Private Networks, Windows, SQL Server, and industry standard programming languages.
AdditionalConsiderations
Experience in information systems, computer science, or related field or demonstrated progressively responsible experience in information security. Experience in the fields of Information Security and/or Information Technology. Information Security professional certifications:
Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) are required. Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), CompTIA Security+ are desirable. Highly self-motivated, self-directed, and attentive to detail. Strong leadership, coaching and mentoring skills. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
