Network Engineer - III

The Network Engineer III will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing network and security solutions that support complex business and technical requirements.

The role involves providing expert-level infrastructure engineering, analyzing business needs, preparing migration strategies, resolving complex network issues, and ensuring alignment with organizational security and operational standards.

This position also contributes to improving boundary security, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and guiding strategic technology direction.

• Develop conceptual, logical, and physical IT engineering designs that support varying business and technical project requirements.
• Analyze business requirements and ensure infrastructure design traceability to those requirements.
• Assess testing needs and prepare testing strategies, implementation plans, and migration plans.
• Develop, document, and execute network and security designs for the deployment of network and security services.
• Resolve complex hardware and system issues impacting application systems and initiate problem-avoidance measures.
• Prepare and implement detailed specifications for infrastructure releases, including configurations, testing, and deployments.
• Recommend solutions to minimize or prevent system interruptions and support the strategy and roadmap for network and security capabilities.
• Perform change and problem management activities following enterprise policies and procedures.
• Lead and participate in complex technical projects, providing updates and preparing management reports as required.
• Utilize automation tools to streamline manual tasks.
• Follow and enforce technical standards for design, implementation, and programming techniques.
• Train technical staff on the use of software and hardware tools according to established standards.
• Support compliance with internal audit requirements and security guidelines.
• Collaborate with IT and business teams to develop and execute plans for enhancing boundary security.
• Contribute to departmental standards, processes, and documentation.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• Proficiency in network architecture design and risk-based decision-making.
• Strong knowledge of network and firewall technologies.
• Ability to configure, build, stage, and deploy network and firewall policies and infrastructure as code.
• Proficiency with Linux and Windows Server environments.
• Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Ansible, or Puppet.
• Knowledge of system security controls.
• Understanding of networking fundamentals including routing, switching, VLANs, SPANs, and TCP/IP protocols.
• Experience with TCP/IP packet analysis and networking protocols.
• Ability to prepare management and executive-level reports.
• Experience participating in cross-functional projects under tight deadlines.
• Ability to collaborate with IT and business teams to support boundary security improvements.
• Ability to design secure solutions that meet business needs while maintaining the organization’s security posture.

• Experience leading or mentoring teams on complex network engineering initiatives.
• Familiarity with industry best practices for secure network design and automation.

• CISSP, CCSP, or other Security, Cloud, or Information Technology certifications such as Security+, CCNP, CEH, AWS, or Azure (strongly desired).
