IT SOX Compliance Specialist

Location: Remote (Preference for candidates located in Richmond, VA, or within a 50-mile radius)

Experience Required: 5+ years

Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled IT SOX Compliance Specialist with a strong background in Big 4 accounting firms (PwC, EY, Deloitte, KPMG) to join our team. This role is pivotal in ensuring our IT systems and processes comply with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements, particularly during system implementations and business process changes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Control Environment Evaluation: Assess the current IT SOX control environment to identify areas requiring updates or new implementations in response to system changes or business process modifications.
• Control Design and Implementation: Collaborate with project teams to design and implement effective IT SOX controls, ensuring they align with compliance standards.
• Documentation Review: Examine SOX project documentation for compliance, identifying gaps and working with teams to augment or update as necessary.
• Business Process Analysis: Evaluate new business processes to identify in-scope SOX systems, scoping and designing IT controls accordingly.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with external auditors and internal project teams, providing guidance and ensuring compliance with minimal oversight.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Big 4 Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT SOX compliance, preferably with a background in PwC, EY, Deloitte, or KPMG.
• SOX Expertise: In-depth knowledge of SOX IT General Controls and Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) controls and requirements.
• Control Design: Proven ability to identify necessary SOX IT general controls resulting from system implementations or business process changes.
• Documentation Skills: Experience in reviewing SOX project documentation, identifying compliance gaps, and collaborating with teams to address them.
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with auditors and project teams.
• Certifications: Certifications such as CISA, CIA, or CPA are a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Location: Candidates located in Richmond, VA, or within a 50-mile radius are preferred.
• Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with systems like SAP, Oracle, or cloud-based platforms is advantageous.
• Certifications: Additional certifications in IT governance or compliance are beneficial.
