Position DescriptionSeneca Resources is seeking a highly skilled Data Architect II to support a large-scale enterprise data environment in Richmond, VA. This role is ideal for a senior-level architect who enjoys building scalable, secure, and high-performance data ecosystems that power analytics, business intelligence, and data science.
You’ll partner with cross-functional stakeholders to translate business needs into modern architecture solutions, define data standards and governance practices, and drive forward-thinking approaches across cloud-based and enterprise platforms. Job ResponsibilitiesDesign and implement enterprise-wide data architecture aligned with business objectives, performance, and security requirements
Develop data models, schemas, and integration patterns to support scalable data pipelines and analytics solutions
Translate business requirements into technical architecture specifications for data storage, processing, and retrieval
Evaluate and recommend tools and platforms for data warehousing, ETL/ELT, analytics, and integration
Partner with stakeholders across technology and business teams to ensure solutions meet functional and strategic needs
Establish and support data governance frameworks, standards, policies, and best practices
Lead proof‑of‑concept (POC) efforts to validate new architectural approaches and emerging technologies
Define strategies for metadata management, documentation, and architecture artifacts across the enterprise
Ensure enterprise data assets are properly identified, stewarded, and leveraged across teams
Support enterprise-level initiatives involving data access, optimization, archiving/recovery, security, and change management
Mentor junior team members and provide architectural guidance to engineering and delivery teams
Stay current on industry best practices and emerging trends in cloud data architecture, governance, and analytics
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (Master’s preferred)
7+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or related enterprise data roles
Strong experience designing and implementing enterprise data solutions end-to-end
Advanced knowledge of data modeling (dimensional, relational, and No
SQL)Hands‑on experience with AWS cloud data platforms
Strong expertise in ETL/ELT methodologies, data integration patterns, and pipeline design
Understanding of data governance principles, data standards, and enterprise data management practices
Familiarity with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, Kafka (or similar tools)
Experience supporting BI/analytics platforms and data-driven decision‑making initiatives
Strong communication skills with the ability to align technical solutions to business needs
Experience with real‑time / streaming data architectures
Knowledge of data mesh and/or data fabric architecture patterns
Exposure to machine learning workflows, MLOps, or analytics enablement
Experience with Data Ops and CI/CD for data pipelines
Relevant certifications (AWS, cloud/data platforms, architecture frameworks, etc.)
