Cloud Solutions Engineer III

Overview

Hybrid role - candidates must live within commuting distance (approx. 1 hour) of Richmond, VA. The Cloud Solutions Engineer III will lead the design, implementation, and management of the organization's cloud infrastructure. This role involves ensuring the stability, security, and scalability of cloud environments, as well as providing support for related services such as networking, storage, and identity management.

• Lead the design and implementation of cloud solutions to meet business requirements.
• Oversee the management and maintenance of cloud resources, including virtual machines, storage accounts, and networking components.
• Monitor and troubleshoot complex cloud infrastructure issues, ensuring high availability and performance.
• Implement and manage cloud security policies and configuration settings.
• Collaborate with other IT teams to integrate cloud services with on-premises systems and applications.
• Ensure compliance with security policies and best practices for cloud environments.
• Provide technical support and guidance to end-users and other IT staff.
• Mentor and train junior team members.
• Assist in the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of IT operational systems.

Bachelor's degree

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Cyber Security, Information Systems or a related degree.

AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional

Licensure/Certification Preferred:
Certifications in related fields. Microsoft Certified:
Azure Solutions Architect Expert. Google Certified Professional Cloud Architect

Years and Type of

Required Experience:

Minimum of 6+ years of experience in cloud engineering or a related role. Proven track record of leading the design and implementation of cloud solutions.

Experience:

Managing and troubleshooting complex cloud environments. Hands-on experience with cloud resource management. Experience in integrating cloud services with other IT systems and applications. Demonstrated ability to ensure compliance with security policies and best practices. 6+ years of experience in managing and supporting Linux server environments. Design and implementation of cloud solutions to meet business optimization for cloud systems. Extensive experience with hybrid cloud solutions.

In-depth knowledge of identity and access management (IAM) principles and best practices. Familiarity with security frameworks such as NIST, ISO, or CIS. Extensive experience with multi-factor authentication (MFA) and single sign-on (SSO) solutions. Understanding network protocols and services related to cloud environments. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.

Grasping TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, firewalls, load balancers, and content delivery networks is crucial for secure and efficient cloud operation. Demonstrated ability to ensure compliance with security policies and best practices. Knowledge of virtualization (VMs) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).

Working Conditions:

Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur. General office environment. Required to travel to off-site locations, occasionally in adverse weather conditions. May have periods of constant interruptions. Prolonged periods of working alone.
