Capital One’s Experience Design organization focuses on co‑creating memorable, meaningful customer and associate experiences that build our brand with humanity and drive business advantage. The Experience Design Research team accelerates learning velocity by conducting primary research, assessments, and testing, and by overseeing democratized research/testing conducted by others. A key aspect of our role is to find and synthesize existing research and data to help teams acquire the knowledge they need for informed decisions.

As the Design Research Leader across Capital One’s Card organization, you will lead a research practice that influences our end‑to‑end product ecosystem. You will think about the entirety of a customer’s experience and how each piece fits into the journey, partner with product and design stakeholders, create and execute learning agendas, and provide actionable recommendations to inform product experience decisions. Role Expectations Research Excellence and Delivery
  • Learning Objective Clarity:
    Consult with multi‑disciplinary product teams to develop and maintain clear learning मुख agendas and research roadmaps. Define and refine primary research questions and objectives to align with business strategy and eliminate knowledge gaps.
  • Research Execution:
    Determine appropriate research methods, guide the creation of research plans, oversee high‑quality research artifacts, and establish standards for conducting sessions and touchpoints.
  • Expert Analysis:
    Synthesize primary and secondary data and surface actionable insights that answer research questions and ensure timely delivery of all deliverables.
  • Actionable Recommendations:
    Produce useful, pragmatic, and concrete recommendations, track their implementation throughout the product development lifecycle, and ensure teams can effectively apply them.
  • Scaled Impact:
    Increase research visibility and leverage, applying findings to broader, complex strategic problems across the organization.
  • Research Enablement:
    Provide portfolio‑level consulting and coaching to help non‑researchers conduct certain types of research.
Strategic Influence & Collaboration
  • Results Focus:
    Accountable for measurable impact on key business objectives, building rigorous measurement capability and fostering a results‑oriented culture.
  • Influence:
    Shape executive strategy, define research’s contribution to critical outcomes, build executive partnerships for vision and investment alignment, and elevate research’s reputation.
  • Collaboration:

    Foster alignment on strategic objectives across leaders, champion shared ownership, and mediate complex inter‑team challenges.
  • Communication:
    Share insights across levels and functions, model a strategic human‑centered approach, influence senior stakeholders, and achieve impactful results.
Basic Qualifications
  • At least 8 years of experience conducting qualitative or quantitative user experience research.
  • At least 6 years of professional experience conducting user experience research in a corporate environment.
  • At least 6 years offọdụ experience analyzing data ನನ survey data, behavioral analytics).
  • At least 3 years managing user experience research teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least 10 years of experience conducting qualitative or quantitative user experience research in large, matrixed organizations.
