As a Senior Manager of Technical Program Management on our Enterprise product & platform organization, you will help build solid platforms on mobile and web surfaces, enabling delightful experiences for our lines of business such as credit card, retail banking, and auto finance. You will also support our Finance Tech Leadership and Support Team, driving key programs as part of the integration between Discover and Capital One, and bring expertise inscale data engineering and architecture initiatives.
OurTPM Sr. Managers have:
- Strong technical backgrounds (ideally building highly scalable platforms, products, or services) with the ability to proactively identify and mitigate technical risks throughout the delivery life‑cycle.
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills.
- Excellent problem‑solving and influencing skills.
- A quantitative approach to problem solving and a collaborative implementer of holistic solutions; a systems thinker.
- Ability to simplify the technically complex and drive well‑educated decisions across product, engineering, design, and data science teams.
- Deep focus on execution, follow‑through, accountability, and results.
- Exceptional cross‑team collaboration; able to work across different functions, organizations, and reporting boundaries to get the job done.
- Highly tuned emotional intelligence, good listener, and deep seated empathy for teams and partners.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- At least 5 years of experience managing technical programs.
- 5+ years of experience designing and building data‑intensive solutions using distributed computing.
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering.
- 5+ years of experience in data architecture.
- 3+ years of experience building distributed systems & highly available services using cloud computing services / architecture — preferably AWS.
- 3+ years of experience with Agile delivery.
- 3+ years experience delivering large and complex programs — owning the business or technical vision, collaborating with large cross‑functional teams, securing commitments on deliverables, and unblocking teams to land business impact.
- Experience building systems & solutions within a highly regulated environment.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related technical field (Computer Science, Software Engineering).

McLean, VA: $193,000 - $220,300 for Sr. Manager, Technical Program Management
New York, NY: $210,500 - $240,300 for Sr. Manager, Technical Program Management
Richmond, VA: $175,500 - $200,300 for Sr. Manager, Technical Program Management
This role is also eligible to earn performance‑based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long‑term incentives (LTI).
