Position : VDOT Program Manager - Business Data Management Architect (786324)

Department: SCC

Description: The VDOT Program Manager - Business Data Management Architect will participate in an enterprise data management program. This role will coordinate with business architecture, data architecture, enterprise architecture staff, data stewards, and data custodians. The architect will design and implement effective data management processes using data modeling and data quality management expertise. Responsibilities include defining taxonomies for enhanced data organization, classification, and retrieval, contributing to improved metadata management.

The candidate will become familiar with VDOT's Business Capability Model and will help develop an enterprise data model, data flows, and road‑maps. Knowledge of the National Information Exchange Model, Spatial Data Standards for Facilities Infrastructure and Environment, and other standards is also required.

• Prior Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) experience directly related to this role
• Extensive experience in data quality management, including establishing standards, monitoring, and continuous improvement
• Demonstrated experience with enterprise data programs at a similarly sized organization (private or public)
• Proven experience in data modeling
• Demonstrated ability to bridge the gap between business architecture and National Information Exchange Model (NIEM) standards
• Strong understanding of data governance principles and best practices
• Proficiency in metadata management including taxonomies and enhanced data quality
• Experience overseeing the complete data lifecycle within a complex organizational structure
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
