Endpoint Systems Analyst

Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine (VCU SOM) is seeking an Endpoint Systems Analyst to support its IT infrastructure.

Duties & Responsibilities

This position is part of the SOM Endpoint team which provides technical and administrative expertise in the support of the School of Medicine IT infrastructure, including but not limited to: application and web server management, Active Directory management, enterprise privilege management, information security management, file server management, remote access and removable media management, end user support, Vsphere/Horizon, and Dell OneFS.

The role focuses on server management, VMware, and Active Directory management. Responsibilities include managing all VCU School of Medicine central servers (web, application, file), monitoring, analysis, and providing timely response to server-related issues and requests. Provide first response to server and systems technical issues and ensure optimal performance and uptime. Manage patching, provisioning, and decommissioning of servers. The role is expected to be on-call for off-hour infrastructure-related issues.

Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and general Microsoft IT infrastructure management tools and techniques.
  • Ability to resolve complex technical problems related to enterprise management applications.
  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts to audiences with varying technical experience.
  • Ability to follow up with appropriate technical staff until issues are resolved.
  • Ability to collaborate as an effective member of a busy IT team and work independently.
  • Ability to perform duties independently in a timely and punctual manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism, and civility with faculty, staff, and students from various backgrounds.
  • Ability to complete assigned projects in a timely, effective, and efficient manner.
  • Essential knowledge of IT security concepts, principles, and trends such as access control, communications security, risk management, application program security, computer operations security, and physical property security.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills and ability to solve highly complex problems with medium to high impact to the organization.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master of Science in Information Systems (MSIS), Master of Business Administration (MBA), or Master of Computer Science.
  • Demonstrated expertise in networking concepts and technologies.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of query language and scripting concepts.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. for a short distance.
  • Vendor sponsored certifications (Sec+, Network+, MCSE) and other ITIL and security related certifications preferred (GSEC, CISSP).
Salary Range

$75,000 - $90,000
