Job Summary:

The Virginia Department of Health is seeking an IT Project Portfolio Coordinator to manage IT portfolio projects and resources within the Office of Information Management. The role involves collaborating with teams to analyze needs, manage priorities, and ensure efficient allocation of resources to achieve strategic objectives.

Responsibilities:

• Managing IT portfolio projects and resources

• Identifying project reporting needs

• Managing resources within the portfolio

• Ensuring efficient allocation to achieve strategic objectives and project goals

• Collaborating with teams to analyze needs

• Conducting conceptual evaluations

• Managing work-planning and resourcing within OIM

• Facilitating the continuous review of the IT Portfolio

• Preparing project reports for IT leadership

• Providing guidance to project teams

• Ensuring smooth project execution through effective communication and coordination

Qualifications:

Required:

• Strong understanding of resource management principles and techniques to efficiently allocate and use resources based on organizational goals.

• Proven experience managing IT projects of varying size and complexity, including planning, execution, and tracking of project milestones and outcomes.

• Demonstrated experience in financial forecasting and variance analysis to align project budgets with business goals and ensure proper use of financial resources.

• Experience in assessing complex issues, developing practical solutions, and improving the management, development, and performance of information systems.

• Familiarity with project delivery methods and the use of Project Portfolio Management (PPM) tools.

• Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills, including the ability to effectively manage and develop professional staff.

• Professional experience in organizing people, tasks, and priorities to successfully achieve long-term business goals.

Preferred:

• Experience in system administration of project management tools.

• Professional knowledge of the healthcare industry and public health programs.
