Human Resources Transformation Program Manager Overview

As McKesson transitions its Medical‑Surgical business unit into a new independent entity, we are seeking a Human Resources Transformation Program Manager to lead strategic HR initiatives that enable operational readiness and cultural alignment during this complex separation. This senior‑level role will oversee multiple interdependent HR work streams—including technology and systems integration, talent programs, benefits, policy alignment, and employee engagement—while driving governance, reporting, risk management, and stakeholder alignment across the transformation portfolio.

The ideal candidate combines deep HR expertise with program leadership skills across multiple disciplines, strategic advisory capabilities, and thrives in a fast‑paced, matrixed environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead planning and execution of HR transformation projects spanning technology, systems, total rewards, talent, culture, and global HR considerations.
  • Establish and maintain governance protocols, reporting frameworks, and decision‑making processes for HR work streams ensuring transparency and alignment with enterprise transformation objectives.
  • Collaborate with IT, communications, legal, finance, change management, and operational teams to manage interdependencies and resolve issues.
  • Partner with HR Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to operationalize and implement new HR programs (e.g., talent acquisition, talent management, and compensation and benefits).
  • Coordinate with IT on HR technology integration efforts, including system upgrades, data migration, testing, and operational readiness.
  • Identify and mitigate risks across HR work streams; quantify impacts and elevate critical issues to leadership as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational standards throughout HR transformation activities.
  • Partner with HR work streams and respective functional owners on vendor relationships and ensure alignment of third‑party contracts with separation timelines.
  • Develop and present executive‑level updates and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • In partnership with Finance, establish and manage the HR budget across one‑time and ongoing expenses.
Minimum Qualifications

Degree or equivalent and typically requires 7+ years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience in HR program or project management, preferably in large‑scale transformation or separation initiatives.
  • Proven ability to lead complex, cross‑functional programs in a matrixed organization.
  • Deep expertise in HR systems, talent acquisition, talent management, total rewards, benefits, payroll and organizational change strategies.
  • Experience with financial analysis and business case development for HR initiatives. Exceptional analytical, communication, stakeholder engagement, and executive presentation skills.
  • Experience with enterprise‑level project management tools.
  • PMP or equivalent certification strongly preferred; HR certifications (e.g., SHRM‑SCP) a plus.
Preferred Skills
  • Strategic mindset with ability to translate vision into actionable plans.
  • Familiarity with M&A or divestiture processes and HR due diligence.
  • Experience with IPOs.
  • Experience managing external vendors and driving accountability for deliverables.
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and project management tools.
Our Base Pay Range for this position

$102,100 - $170,100
