Under the direction of the Employer Development Manager, the Employer Development Coordinator will manage the recruitment database, coordinate the review/approval of new employers seeking to engage with VCU, and assist in developing and leading on‑campus recruitment planning with particular emphasis on student‑employer engagement. They will steward relationships with employers to increase recruiting opportunities and outcomes for students, facilitate organizational visits related to employment and experiential opportunities, and evaluate employer needs to best refer them for engagement opportunities.
This position also assists in efforts to maintain campus recruiting policies for students, employers, faculty and staff in accordance with professional standards.
- Project Management and Collaboration (45%):
Coordinate with the Employer & Experiential Development Team for campus career fairs, including employer invitations, registration, day‑of logistics, and communications. Coordinate on‑campus recruiting visits (information tables, interviews, presentations, panels, networking). Schedule and confirm visits, provide necessary information, and follow up post‑visit. Work with Operations Coordinator and SEMSS Marketing Team to create and distribute event marketing. Implement, review, and enforce campus recruiting guidelines with the Employer and Experiential Development Team.
Adhere to professional conduct and ethics as outlined by NACE, promoting equitable pay, inclusive recruitment, mentoring, and professional development. - Relationship Development and Management (30%):
Serve as first‑line communication with employers through virtual and in‑person mediums. Orient employer partners to VCU and Handshake so they can effectively post and follow up on experiential and employment opportunities. Disseminate new employer information to team members to support engagement plans. Provide outstanding customer service, respond with urgency, flexibility, courtesy, and good judgment to meet partner needs. - Technology Management (25%):
Ensure accurate and timely entry of data, employer and posting approvals, and troubleshooting in Handshake. Lead new employer account review/approval, update employer permissions, internship and experiential posting approvals. Troubleshoot employer experience with the database, answering questions promptly and efficiently.
This is a part‑time role working 20 hours per week, eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with up to 40% weekly telework. This is an hourly restricted position. Continued employment is contingent upon continued funding.
Qualifications- Minimum:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent education, training and experience. Familiarity with the higher education environment. - Superb customer service skills, attention to detail, strong organizational skills, multitasking in a busy office environment, tact, effective communication skills (written and oral), solid MS Office and Google Mail/Calendar knowledge.
- Ability to use database systems (Handshake, Symplicity), project management systems (Air Table, Asana). Critical thinking, problem‑solving, negotiation skills, handling confidential situations appropriately.
- Demonstrated ability to foster respect, professionalism and civility with faculty, staff and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.
- Preferred:
Experience in a university career center or career services office on a college campus; experience with Handshake or similar career services database systems; experience with project management systems and record keeping.
$19.25 per hour
