Duties & Responsibilities

Performs a wide variety of administrative, logistical, operational, and technical tasks related to Human Resources. Implements HR-centered programs, handling daily operations, including scheduling, training, evaluation, and oversight. Maintains the personnel portion of the Wright Center's website, directories, and organizational charts; performs HR transactions; reviews payroll financial reconciliations; prepares tracking reports and compiles statistics; provides project support.

  • Assists with a variety of HR functions, such as recruitment and staffing, employee records, employee relations, compensation, benefits, training, recognition, etc.
  • Utilizes HR systems, processes accurate and timely routine compensation and recruitment actions, as well as confidential forms and records pertaining to applications, employment, enrollment, pay changes, and other sensitive HR materials; verifies accuracy of submitted data and ensures policy compliance.
  • Responds to internal and external HR-related inquiries or requests and provides assistance.
  • Provides support and guidance on leave policies and procedures, including overtime, Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), etc.
  • Administers new hire onboarding and offboarding for separating employees.
  • Assists with HR-related communications.
  • Assists with the maintenance of all employee records.
  • Assists in answering employee and manager questions regarding annual and probationary performance evaluations.
  • Participates in HR Associate group meetings and trainings.
  • Supports Wright Center's engagement initiatives.

This is a hybrid position and requires at least 3 days in the office.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism, and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.

Associate's degree and 1-3 years relevant professional experience or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.

  • Outstanding customer service skills and a high degree of professionalism.
  • Ability to adapt to change and ambiguity.
  • Strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, organize workload and juggle changing priorities.
  • Ability to apply policies and procedures for recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, and information systems.
  • Ability to solve problems independently and use available resources.
  • Ability to independently research topics.
  • Knowledge of Human Resources policies and procedures.
  • Excellent oral and written communication in daily interactions.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately and with discretion.
  • Strong team mentality while being able to work independently as needed.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications

1-3 years direct experience working on recruitment, onboarding, offboarding, and transactions.

Salary Range

66,000
