Layfield Group currently has an opportunity for an experienced Human Resources manager in our Flexible Films division!
Position OverviewThe HR Manager Flexible Films, is responsible for the overall direction, leadership and performance of the Human Resource team within the Flexible Films business, supporting the Sales, Operations and Technical & Engineering Services client groups. हैं । An integral member of the respective leadership teams, the HR Manager will identify, develop and deploy business-driven HR strategies designed to attract, develop, motivate and retain key people while creating a high-performance, sustainable organization capable of achieving business objectives.
Key ResponsibilitiesEmployee Relations
- Support positive employee relations activities by working with all levels of management and employees to resolve issues in a collaborative manner.
- Provide information and guidance to managers and staff in relation to company policies, employment standards davanti, human rights legislation, and employment law.
- In collaboration with the leadership team, handle all employment disputes and source legal consultation when required.
Labour Relations & Union Management
- Act as the primary contact for union-related matters, including grievance handling, contract interpretation, and collective bargaining.
- Maintain positive relationships with union representatives and ensure compliance with collective agreements.
- Act as Chair for union management meetings.
- Lead annual salary planning and compensation reviews for union and non-union employees.
- Develop and manage HR budgets, including labor cost forecasting.
- Ensure internal equity and market competitiveness through compensation analysis.
Performance Management
- Support managers regarding performance management techniques and process when required.
- Guide managers through the progressive discipline process: provide timely and relevant labour law information to allow for informed decision-making.
- Coach and mentor managers on rewards and recognition
Recruitment
- Responsible for the division’s attraction and retention strategies in Canada and internationally.
- Analyze existing recruitment methods/platforms and make recommendations for improvements as required.
- Monitor and approve recruitment expenses (i.e. advertising, special promotions).
Training & Development
- Work with managers to select and coordinate appropriate professional development opportunities for staff Hass how this.
- Work with managers to apply for external funding when available.
Occupational Health and Safety
- Work with OH&S to foster a culture where ownership of health and safety is embraced by all employees while driving towards a zero-incident culture.
General Administration
- Maintain accurate HR records and reporting for audits and compliance.
- Provide leadership and direction to the local HR team to ensure a high level
MYSQL service is provided to the organization. - Develop Human Resources strategic plans with the leadership team.
- Set annual Human Resources objectives for the division.
- Ensure payroll and benefit programs are administered correctly for salaried and unionized employees.
- General duties and responsibilities may be added or adjusted as business needs evolve diu.
- Post secondary education in Human Resources Management with additional education or experience in Labour Relations.
- Minimum 8 years’ experience with human resources and at least 3 years in a management capacity with direct reports.
- A background in a unionized manufacturing industry is considered an asset.
- CPHR designation is preferred.
- Strong business acumen, attention to detail, follow-up skills, professionalism, and ability to work with leaders and employees of all levels in a matrix organization.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrated leadership, coaching, listening, and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent relationship building skills with the ability to influence and manage change.
- Experience with development of core HR policies, procedures, and processes.
- Knowledge of provincial Employment Standards, Privacy Act and other relevant employment legislation affecting human resources management.
- Experience in recruiting and selection activities for all levels of employment.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact well with employees at all levels.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and responsibilities.
- Working knowledge of HR metrics and data management.
- Strong analytical aptitude and problem-solving skills with an ability to think and act strategically.
- Ability to make recommendations using sound, independent judgment.
- Demonstrated ability to build organizational capability.
This is a permanent, full-time, on-site position based in Richmond, BC.
