Overview
Rad Tech Supervisor - Diagnostic Radiology - Days. The Radiology Technologist Supervisor provides day-to-day supervision for an assigned Radiology area (e.g. Diagnostic, Breast Imaging, Stony Point, CT/MRI, 3D lab) to include STAR Service, legal and regulatory compliance, clinical operations, human resources, safety & quality, customer service, leadership, and fiscal responsibility. Ensures procedures are performed by qualified staff, are of high quality, and follow ALARA and relevant ACR guidelines.
Compliance with VCU and VCUHS policies and procedures is required.
- Supervise day-to-day workflow for the assigned Radiology area; lead technologists and front-line staff to solve problems and remove barriers to success.
- Ensure diagnostic and therapeutic procedures are performed by qualified staff, adhering to ALARA and ACR imaging and MRI safety guidelines where applicable.
- Collaborate with lead technologists, supervisors, managers, faculty, and staff to maintain high safety, quality, and teamwork; report to the Modality Manager.
- Develop and implement new initiatives, programs, and policies; oversee clinical operations and processes for the assigned area.
- Develop staff education and competencies, including educational materials and competency forms; provide education to team members, students, residents, and other learners.
- ARRT certification required for Diagnostic Supervisor; plus one of the following related to the department: ARRT Mammography (Breast Imaging), ARRT CT (CT), ARRT MRI (MRI), ARRT CV/VIR (Interventional), ARRT CT or MRI for 3D lab supervisor, CI, RCIS, or RCES as applicable.
- Current ARRT certification required for Diagnostic Supervisor; plus one of the specialty registries listed above related to the department.
- Required:
Minimum of one (1) year of lead technologist radiologic technology experience. - Preferred:
Minimum of three (3) years of technical experience; experience in a leadership role and in an academic medical center environment.
- Required:
Graduation from a JRC Accredited Program in Radiologic Technology recognized by the ARRT. - Preferred:
Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Radiation Science, Business, or related field;
Master’s Degree in Health Administration, Business Administration, or related field.
- Coordinate day-to-day workflow and supervise the team.
- Seek guidance from Manager on as-needed basis for major modality impacts.
- All team members in the assigned modality report to this position; day-to-day workflow responsibilities may be delegated as appropriate.
- Cover unplanned staff absences as needed across shifts.
- Weekend and after-hours coverage may be required based on workload and team needs.
